VSPHARM Co., Ltd. held seminars on the theme of "Long-term Management of Sepsis, Heart Disease, Tumors, and Various Infections through Lactate Monitoring" on the last two occasions.
Park Hee-myung, a professor at Konkuk University College of Veterinary Medicine, explained the definition of lactic acid, the condition of various diseases in which lactic acid concentration changes, and explained in detail how to use lactic acid concentration in diagnosis and prognosis evaluation of diseases.
For example, when there is a tumor such as lymphoma, the lactic acid concentration changes, and the lactic acid concentration may also change in patients with dyspnea caused by foreign substances in the nasal cavity. In addition, patients with heart problems such as atrioventricular block (AV block) or unable to walk for a long time after joint surgery may also have a change in lactic acid concentration.
Since the concentration of lactic acid changes according to these various disease situations and patient conditions, regular monitoring of lactic acid can greatly help the patient's prognosis evaluation.
Professor Park Hee-myung said, "Since the concentration of lactic acid changes frequently, it is better to continuously monitor it before, during, and after surgery," and stressed, "Since there is an equipment that can tell the results quickly with a small amount of blood, lactic acid can be used not only in large animal hospitals."
It may be said that it has infectious peritonitis based on the difference in concentrations of glucose and lactic acid in blood and ascites. As such, the range of use of lactic acid is wider than expected.
VSPHARM, which hosted the seminar, recently released the "Xpress Lactic Acid Measuring Device."
It is a device that can quantitatively measure lactic acid through blood (dynamic vein blood) right after blood collection, and has the advantage of being able to check the result in 13 seconds with a small amount of blood of 0.6.6. It is small in size and has high portability.
It can also be used in horses after exercise.
VSPHARM said, "The Xpress lactic acid meter is a pocket lactic acid meter that uses a battery, and it can be used for moderate evaluation of shock or circulatory failure and diagnosis of sepsis."
